Ingredients
  

For the Cake
  • 1 box yellow cake mix Follow the instructions on the box for eggs and oil.
For the Milk Mixture
  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Optional for added flavor.
For Serving
  • whipped cream For topping.
  • fresh fruit Assortment of berries or sliced fruit recommended.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven according to the instructions on the cake mix box. Grease your cake pan as directed.
  2. Prepare the cake mix by combining the required eggs, oil, and water, then bake until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  3. Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan.
Soaking the Cake
  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and whole milk until well combined.
  2. Once the cake is cool, gently poke holes all over the top with a fork to help it absorb the milk mixture.
  3. Pour the milk mixture over the cake, ensuring it soaks in every bit, and let it sit for at least one hour (or refrigerate overnight for best results).
Serving
  1. Serve chilled, topped with whipped cream and fresh fruit if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers tightly covered in plastic wrap or in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For longer storage, slice and freeze in a freezer-safe container, letting it thaw in the refrigerator overnight before serving.
