Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup vinegar Can use apple cider vinegar for a milder tang.
  • 1/2 cup fruit juice Pineapple or orange juice recommended.
  • 1/4 cup sugar Can substitute with brown sugar or honey.
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch Can use arrowroot powder as an alternative.
  • 1 tablespoon water For mixing with cornstarch.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water until smooth.
  2. In a saucepan, combine the vinegar, fruit juice, sugar, and soy sauce over medium heat.
  3. Stir the mixture until the sugar has dissolved completely.
  4. Add the cornstarch mixture to the saucepan, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.
  5. Remove from heat and serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze in ice cube trays and transfer to a ziplock bag once frozen.
