Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 4 ounces sharp white cheddar cheese (about 1 cup shredded) Use sharp white cheddar for the best flavor.
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter Melted for the biscuit mixture.
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk Provides moisture and tang.
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Make sure to measure accurately.
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder For the biscuit dough.
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Garlic Butter Topping
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter Melted for topping.
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder For the garlic butter.
  • 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt For the garlic butter.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Grate the cheddar cheese and set it aside.
  3. Melt 8 tablespoons (1 stick) of unsalted butter in either the microwave or a saucepan.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter with the buttermilk.
  5. In another bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, garlic powder, salt, and baking soda.
  6. Gradually stir in the buttermilk mixture until a soft dough forms, then fold in the grated cheese.
  7. Using an ice cream scoop or your hands, scoop out portions of dough and shape them into balls, placing them onto the prepared baking sheet.
Baking
  1. Bake for approximately 10 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
Garlic Butter Topping
  1. For the garlic butter topping, melt 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter and mix it with parsley, garlic powder, and salt.
  2. As soon as the biscuits come out of the oven, brush them generously with the garlic butter and serve warm.

Notes

For an extra boost of flavor, consider adding cooked, crumbled bacon or chives into the dough. Don’t overmix the dough for fluffiest results.
