  • 1 1/2 cups Whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup Brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp Cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp Cornmeal

Method

Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, honey, and yeast. Let it sit until frothy, about 5-10 minutes.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine both types of flour, brown sugar, cocoa powder, cornmeal, and kosher salt.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and canola oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, around 1 hour.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Punch down the dough, form it into a loaf, and place it in a greased loaf pan.
  8. Cover and let it rise again until it has doubled, about 30 minutes.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  10. Let it cool slightly before slicing. Enjoy your homemade bread!
