Ingredients

Chicken Coating
  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil for frying
Orange Sauce
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
Garnishes
  • Green onions for garnish
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. Mix the cornstarch and flour in a bowl. Coat chicken pieces well in this mixture.
Cooking Chicken
  1. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add coated chicken pieces and fry until crispy and golden brown, cooking in batches if necessary.
Making Sauce
  1. In a separate saucepan, combine orange juice, sugar, soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes. Cook over medium heat until the mixture thickens.
Finishing Touch
  1. Toss the fried chicken in the simmering orange sauce until each piece is thoroughly coated.
  2. Serve hot, garnished with sliced green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.

Notes

For the crispiest chicken, make sure the oil is hot enough before adding. Feel free to substitute chicken thighs for more richness or use low-sodium soy sauce if desired. Can be served over rice or with stir-fried vegetables.
