Ingredients
  

For the Marinade
  • 1 pound flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced Use a sharp knife to slice against the grain for tenderness.
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce Tamari can be used for a gluten-free option.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
For the Sauce
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch This will thicken the sauce.
For Cooking
  • 2 tablespoons oil for cooking (vegetable or sesame oil)
  • 2 stalks green onions, sliced For garnish and flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds Optional, for garnish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with soy sauce, minced garlic, and ginger. Allow it to marinate for about 30 minutes.
Sauce Preparation
  1. In a separate bowl, mix together soy sauce, brown sugar, and cornstarch.
Cooking
  1. Heat a large pan or wok over medium-high heat with oil. Once hot, add the marinated beef and cook until browned.
  2. Pour in the sauce mixture and stir constantly until it thickens, coating the beef nicely.
  3. Toss in the sliced green onions and cook for an additional minute.
Serving
  1. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.

Notes

For added flavor, consider serving with stir-fried vegetables and garnish with sesame seeds. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.
