Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound flank steak Sliced thinly against the grain.
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce Use a sweet soy sauce for best flavor.
  • 1/4 cup sugar Can adjust based on sweetness preference.
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger Grated or minced.
  • 2 cups white rice Steamed, to serve with the beef.
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch Optional, for thickening sauce.

Method

Preparation
  1. Slice the flank steak into thin strips against the grain for tenderness.
  2. In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, sugar, and ginger to create the sweet soy sauce mixture and marinate the steak for at least 15 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Heat a pan over medium-high heat and add a bit of oil.
  2. Once the oil is hot, add the marinated steak and cook until browned, approximately 3-4 minutes.
  3. Pour the remaining marinade into the pan, letting the mixture simmer. If the sauce isn’t thickening after about 10 minutes, sprinkle in some cornstarch to achieve desired consistency.
  4. Serve the Mongolian Beef over a bed of rice and enjoy!
