For the Burgers
  • 1 lb ground beef Lean ground beef can be used for a healthier version.
  • 4 pieces hamburger buns Toast before assembling.
  • 4 slices American cheese Feel free to swap for other cheese varieties.
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 1/2 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 piece tomato, sliced
  • Pickles optional Pickles Optional topping.
  • to taste Salt and pepper For seasoning patties.
For the Sauce
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp mustard

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your grill or skillet to medium-high heat.
  2. Form the ground beef into four equal patties and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes on each side, adding cheese on top during the last minute.
  4. In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard to prepare your special sauce.
  5. Toast the hamburger buns until golden brown.
  6. Assemble burgers starting with the bottom bun, spread on the sauce, then layer with lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, and the cheesy beef patty. Top with the other half of the bun.
Serving
  1. Serve immediately and enjoy with your favorite sides.

Notes

These burgers are perfect with sides like fries or onion rings. To store leftovers, place in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consume within 3-4 days. Reheat on a skillet for best results.
