Preparation
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water, dry yeast, and sugar. Allow it to sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- In another bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, mixed grains, salt, and honey.
- Add your frothy yeast mixture and buttermilk to the dry ingredients, stirring until everything is nicely combined.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes, or until it reaches a smooth texture.
- Place the kneaded dough into a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm area for about an hour, or until it has doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Once risen, punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and transfer it to a greased loaf pan.
- Cover the loaf and let it rise again for 30 minutes.
- Brush the top with melted butter and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and it sounds hollow when tapped.
- Allow it to cool before slicing for the ultimate enjoyment.
