Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup bread flour All-purpose flour can be substituted but may result in a denser texture.
  • 1/4 cup honey Add more for a sweeter taste.
  • 2 teaspoons yeast Make sure water is warm to activate.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter For brushing before serving.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, bread flour, yeast, and salt.
  2. Pour in the warm water and honey, stirring until well combined.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5-10 minutes until you achieve a smooth consistency.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and allow it to rise for one hour or until it has doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Once risen, punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf.
  7. Position the loaf in a greased bread pan, cover it, and let it rise again for an additional 30 minutes.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the bread turns a beautiful golden brown.
  9. Brush the top with melted butter before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers wrapped tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil. It can also be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. For longer storage, slice and freeze.
