Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 1.5 lbs ground beef Use lean ground beef to avoid excess grease.
  • 1 cup bread crumbs Feel free to experiment with different types.
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 0.5 cup ketchup Plus another 1/4 cup for topping.
  • 0.25 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp pepper
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, milk, ketchup, chopped onion, egg, salt, and pepper. Stir until everything is well mixed.
  3. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a lightly greased baking dish.
  4. In a separate small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and remaining ketchup. Spread this mixture over the top of the meatloaf for a sweet glaze.
Cooking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  2. Allow it to rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container; it will stay fresh in the refrigerator for up to three days or can be frozen for up to three months.
