Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a separate large bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Mix in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, ensuring everything is well incorporated.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Don’t overmix!
- Gently stir in the chocolate chips or preferred mix-ins.
- Using a large cookie scoop or your hands, form generous mounds of dough and place them on the baking sheet, leaving enough space between each cookie.
Baking
- Place the tray in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are light golden brown. The centers will look slightly underbaked.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Frost or decorate as desired.
Notes
For better flavor and texture, let the cookie dough rest in the fridge for about 30 minutes before baking. Store leftover cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze for longer storage.
