Preparation
- Dissolve the yeast in warm water in a large bowl. Add the sugar and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Stir in the salt and olive oil. Gradually add flour until the dough forms a ball.
- Knead for about 5-7 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out the dough into a rectangular shape on a floured surface and cut it into sticks.
- Place the breadsticks on a greased baking sheet. Brush them with melted butter and sprinkle generously with garlic powder and Parmesan cheese.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
- Allow them to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
These breadsticks can be served warm with marinara sauce or paired with a fresh salad or hearty soup. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. Can be frozen for up to three months.
