  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk Can substitute with almond milk for a dairy-free option.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon Can experiment with a pinch of nutmeg or orange zest.

  • 8 slices thick-cut bread Brioche or challah works best.
  • 2 tablespoons butter For cooking.
For Serving
  • Maple syrup For serving.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until well combined.
  2. Place a large skillet or frying pan over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter. Allow it to melt.
Cooking
  1. Take a slice of bread and dip it into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are coated. Allow excess batter to drip off.
  2. Place the coated bread slice in the heated pan and cook for about 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Flip the bread over and cook the other side for an additional 2-3 minutes until both sides are golden.
  4. Once cooked, transfer the slice to a plate and keep warm. Repeat with remaining slices, adding more butter as needed.

Notes

To keep leftovers fresh, let them cool completely before placing in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Lasts for 3 to 4 days or can be frozen for longer storage.
