Ingredients
  

Dough Ingredients
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1.5 cups warm water
Topping Ingredients
  • 0.25 cups brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 0.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cups melted butter
  • 1 cup cornflakes (crushed)

Method
 

Dough Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
  2. Add warm water and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead for 10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Bagel Shaping and Boiling
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal pieces, shaping each into a bagel.
  3. Boil a large pot of water and add brown sugar.
  4. Boil each bagel for 1 minute on each side.
  5. Place boiled bagels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Topping and Baking
  1. In a bowl, combine granulated sugar, cinnamon, and crushed cornflakes.
  2. Brush the bagels with melted butter, then sprinkle with the topping mixture.
  3. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  4. Let them cool before serving and enjoy!

Notes

To keep your bagels fresh, store them in a sealed plastic bag at room temperature for up to 3 days. If freezing, ensure they are completely cooled before storing in a freezer-safe bag. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10-15 minutes.
