Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 ounces semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 and 1/2 cups chocolate chunks Divided into 1 cup for batter and 1/2 cup for topping

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and the chocolate together, stirring until smooth.
  3. Stir in the granulated sugar until well combined, then add the eggs one at a time, mixing in the vanilla extract afterward.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together the cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, and salt.
  5. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in 1 cup of the chocolate chunks, ensuring they are well distributed throughout the batter.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly; top with the remaining 1/2 cup of chocolate chunks.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-28 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Allow the brownies to cool in the pan before cutting them into squares.

Notes

These brownies are versatile; serve them warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or drizzle with caramel for extra indulgence. Store in an airtight container for up to four days or freeze for three months.
