  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce Use tamari for a gluten-free option.
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1 cup water chestnuts, chopped Adds crunch.
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 green onion, sliced For garnish.
  • 1 head lettuce (iceberg or butter) For wrapping the filling.

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and ginger, sautéing until fragrant.
  2. Add the ground chicken to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until the chicken is no longer pink and starts to brown.
  3. Stir in the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, chopped water chestnuts, and diced bell pepper. Cook for another 3-4 minutes to let the flavors meld. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Serve the chicken mixture by spooning it into lettuce leaves and garnishing with sliced green onions. Enjoy immediately.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider marinating the chicken with soy sauce and ginger for 30 minutes before cooking. Leftover filling works great as a topping for rice or quinoa.
