  • 1 whole rotisserie chicken, shredded Can use leftover or store-bought chicken.
  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup milk
Dumpling Mixture
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter Cut into the flour mixture until coarse crumbs form.
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme Can substitute with fresh herbs.
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste pepper Add according to preference.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large pot, combine the chicken broth and milk, then bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, salt, thyme, and onion powder. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Form the dough into small dumplings, about the size of a tablespoon.
Cooking
  1. Drop the dumplings carefully into the simmering broth. Allow them to cook for about 15 minutes, until they are fluffy and cooked through.
  2. Stir in the shredded chicken, season with pepper to taste, and serve hot.
