Ingredients

Dough Ingredients
  • 4.5 cups Bread flour
  • 1 tsp Active dry yeast
  • 2 large Eggs Beaten
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 6 tbsp Butter Melted
  • 3/4 cup Whole milk Warm for activating yeast
  • 1/4 cup Water For glaze
Filling Ingredients
  • 3.5 cups Cherry Fresh, can substitute with other fruits
  • 2 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup Granulated sugar Plus 1 tsp for yeast activation
  • 3 oz Cream cheese
Glaze Ingredients
  • 2 cups Powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp Vanilla extract

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and 1 tsp of sugar. Let the mixture sit until it becomes foamy, about 10 minutes.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the bread flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, beaten eggs, and melted butter. Knead the mixture until it forms a smooth dough.
  3. Allow the dough to rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out your dough on a floured surface. Spread a mixture of fresh cherries, sugar, cornstarch, and cream cheese evenly over the surface.
  3. Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice it into individual rolls. Arrange them in a greased baking dish.
  4. Let the rolls rise for another 30 minutes so they can puff up.
  5. Bake the rolls for 25 to 30 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
  6. While the rolls are baking, whisk together the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and water. Drizzle this glaze over the warm rolls once they come out of the oven.

Notes

Enjoy these rolls fresh from the oven with coffee or milk. They can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
