  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese Use freshly grated for best results.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional) This adds flavor but can be skipped.

Preparation
  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  2. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a simmer.
  4. Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth.
  5. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning if using.
  6. Continue to cook for a few more minutes until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.
  7. Serve over pasta or as a dip.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 3-4 days. Reheat gently over low heat, adding a splash of cream or milk. Freshly grated Parmesan cheese works best for a smooth sauce.
